1619. He hopes that Relation will make amends for the tedioufhefs of the Proceedings of the Synod. What I have read hitherto about that AfTembly, is certainly very tedious in the Original: perhaps it will appear more entertaining in this Abridgment. During a great many Seffions, fifteen Remonftrant Minifters make their appearance before the Synod to act generally the fame Part, without any variety. They are asked whether they will obey, and they refufe to fubmit to the decifions of the Synod. The fame Queftions, the fame Anfwers, the fame Arguments op both fides.

Whilft the National Synod was taken up with the great affair of the Remonftronts, the Deputies of the Synod of Delft in South- Holland continued to exercife the Ecclefiafti- cal Authority, by fufpending, or degrading many Minifters. The Remonftrants of the Glafs of llrorden were accufed, among other . thinjs, of maintaining that the doctrine of 6g 4 the . 1618. the Trinity is not a fundamental Article.

They and denied that accufation. They were alfo ac- 1619. cufed. of faying, that God might have forgi- ven Sin without any Satisfaction- of ridiculing abfolute Predeftination, and preaching malicioufly againft the doctrines, which had been taught by the Orthodox Minifters of the Reformed Churches.
